Alexander& Co raises £1,500 for Destination Florida at inaugural charity golf day
Alexander & Co welcomed 35 guests to Northenden Golf Club in early October for their first Charity Golf Day, raising £1,500 for Destination Florida Children’s Charity.
The event brought together colleagues and professional contacts from across the region for a day of golf, friendly competition and fundraising.
Alexander & Co Partner Michael Rigby was joined by colleagues Ben Coffey, Tara Phethean, Louis Moore and James Rogerson, alongside representatives from Carbon Corporate Finance, Harrison Drury, Rathbones, JMW, Handelsbanken, Hall Brown and many more.
A successful first charity golf day
The day began with breakfast and coffee before Stephen Owen, Head of Corporate Development at Destination Florida, spoke to guests about the charity's work and the difference fundraising events like this can make.
Despite forecasts of thunderstorms and heavy rain, the weather largely held out, allowing guests to enjoy the course at Northenden Golf Club, which was in excellent condition.
The competition was played in a best two scores from four Stableford format, with plenty of friendly rivalry throughout the day.
After the golf, guests enjoyed a two-course meal before Alexander & Co's Ben Coffey hosted the prize presentation and charity raffle.
Congratulations to Ed Dunphy (Alderley Insurance Brokers), Ryan Lewis (Private Client Solicitors) and Chris Paramore (Succession Partners), who took the overall winners' prize.
Dan Burke (Rathbones) won Nearest the Pin, while Elliot Smith (Julius Baer) claimed Longest Drive.
Looking ahead to a bigger event in 2027
Following the success of the first event, Alexander & Co is already planning a larger Charity Golf Day in 2027.
Michael Rigby, Partner at Alexander & Co, said:
“We're really pleased with how the day went. It was great to get so many people together, enjoy some golf and raise £1,500 for a charity that does such important work.
“We were keeping a close eye on the weather forecast beforehand, but thankfully it was much kinder to us than expected!
“A big thank you to everyone who came along, donated or helped organise the day. We've had some really positive feedback and are already looking forward to making the event even bigger and better in 2027.”
Stephen Owen, Head of Corporate Development at Destination Florida Children’s Charity, added:
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Alexander & Co and all those who supported their first Charity Golf Day. Raising £1,500 is a fantastic achievement and will make a meaningful contribution towards creating unforgettable experiences for the children we support.
“Events like this not only raise vital funds but also help spread awareness of our work. We would like to thank everyone involved for choosing to support Destination Florida and for making their first golf day such a success.”
